Dr. Conrad Murray was in court today in Las Vegas over child support payments to the mother of his child. Here's how it went down:
UPDATE 2:50 PM ET -- The judge just said the baby mama has a right to waive the back support, so the slate is clean. But the judge added Murray must now make regular monthly payments and the court will check in with him every three months and if he keeps paying on time he won't be jailed. Next court date -- January 4th, and Murray must show.
UPDATE: 2:49 PM ET -- The judge asked Dr. Murray if he paid any of the $13,000 to her. He answered, "No, your honor." First we've heard him speak today.
UPDATE 2:47 PM ET -- The baby mama in question has just waived her right to the $13,000 Dr. Murray owes, provided she gets $1,003 a month in support from now on. This is the agreement the parties struck. Murray also paid $700 in court. The judge is confused -- why would she waive the 13 grand?
UPDATE 2:43 PM ET -- Dr. Murray is in court with his lawyer, but the baby mama is out of town and won't be appearing.

Hetty Chang reporting
Michael Jackson's former doctor remains under criminal investigation for the pop star's death. But as far as the doctor's late child support payments, his slate has been wiped clean Dr. Conrad Murray reached a last minute agreement with his child's mother, who lives in California. The agreement came as a surprise to everyone, including the judge.
Dr. Conrad Murray arrived to family court Monday amid a swarm of waiting photographers.
And once inside the courtroom, Murray was welcomed by another surprise: Friday, an agreement had been reached with the mother of his 11-year-old child, freeing Murray of his previous financial obligations.
“Apparently just a few moments ago Dr. Murray had filed a statement; it appears to be signed by the mother,” says Judge Gerald Hardcastle. “She agreed to arbitrarily give up $13,000 in child support payments.”
Murray’s child lives in California; once the courts there finalize the agreement, Murray will be required to pay just over $1,000 per month in child support.
“We’ve reached a resolution. We're going to pay the current support today, $700 of which I’m going to hand in open court,” says Chris Aaron, Murray’s lawyer.
Despite his financial hardship, Murray's attorney - who says he is working pro-bono - says Murray will come up with the rest of the money he owes.
Hetty Chang: Has he been actively seeking work here?
Chris Aaron: Well, as much as he can. He’s radioactive right now. Who's going to [hire] him? Even if he goes to a free clinic, (a media circus) is what's going to await him.
And if Murray again falls behind on his child support payments he’ll have a battle in family court, in addition to the criminal investigation into his role in Michael Jackson’s death.
“He’s got to prove he has the inability to pay, including assets,” says Gerard Costantian, Chief Deputy Clark County's District Attorney’s Office. “People have assets; child support should be his number one priority.”
Since investigators raided Murray's home and office over the summer, he has defaulted on his mortgage for his Red Rock Country Club home. Murray is expected to appear in court again on January 4 for a status check.

Media Briefly Blocked From Leaving Courtroom
POSTED: 11:15 am PST November 17, 2009

When Murray and his attorneys left the hearing, an officer blocked the media from following the group from the building.Court spokesperson Michael Sommermeyer said the situation should have been handled better, and was told Murray’s safety was an issue, as well as the “court decorum.”
Murray’s attorney claimed the doctor received death threats following Jackson’s death.Several journalists questioned the officer about being held back in the courtroom. He answered that he was just following orders.Sommermeyer said the guards decided on their own to allow Murray to leave before the media.
