Las Vegas, Nevada (February 1, 2010). Mr. Joseph Jackson, Patriarch of the First Royal Family of Music and Father of Michael Jackson and Mrs. Katherine Jackson, Matriarch of the First Royal Family of Music and Mother of Michael Jackson, issued the following statement today regarding the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to their son Michael Jackson at the Grammy’s and acceptance of that award by their grandchildren, Prince Michael and Paris.

We are extremely proud of our grandchildren, Prince Michael and Paris, and their acceptance of the Grammy for Lifetime Achievement on behalf of their father, The King of Pop, Michael Jackson. They both handled themselves with poise and professionalism.

Katherine and I are very sensitive to protecting Michael’s children and want to let you know that this was something they wanted to do. As you saw, they are older now and love their father very much and want to do all they are able to carry on with his legacy.

We want to especially thank The Recording Academy for their recognition of our son’s lifetime achievements. We were both very moved by the Michael Jackson “Earth Song” Tribute presented by the Grammy’s and commend the talents of Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Smokey Robinson and Celine Dion on their performances.

Michael was very concerned about what was happening to the planet and was truly a humanitarian and philanthropist. To this end, Katherine and I have established the Jackson Family Foundation to continue his work in making the world a better place.

This past year has been a difficult time for the entire Jackson family and both Katherine and I want to thank all the fans for their love and continued support. We know how much our son Michael meant to the world and we will do all we can to preserve his memory. And to all those who were involved with my son, I am still looking for justice.
