In tonight’s BBC documentary on Freddie Mercury “The Great Pretender” an audio of the late singer discussing his love for partner Jim Hutton is heard.
For some reason fans want to ignore the man who was so very important to Mercury in his later years. The media usually does the same, so it is good to see him get some credit.
In the recorded piece from the late 1980′s Freddie says about Jim: “I’m very happy with my relationship at the moment and I couldn’t ask for better. So now I’ve finally found a niche that I was looking for all my life.”
In the documentary Hutton, who sadly died in 2010 is seen speaking about how he met Freddie several times in clubs and a restaurant before they truly fell in love. He also talks of how hard it was to see Freddie lose the battle with his illness in his final days.
