John Legend has revealed that he's written songs for Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson's comeback albums, which he has sent to them for approval.

The soulful singer says that only time will tell if the stars can reclaim the success they once enjoyed.

"I have written songs for both of their albums, but that doesn't mean it will be on their albums," he explains.

"They can choose whether or not they want to use it. They haven't recorded yet so we'll see."

John is sceptical about the fallen stars' future, saying: "Only time will tell. It's possible for either of them to come back but it really depends on the records they come out with. The public is very forgiving when somebody has a hit.

"The people will be waiting. If they make music that people are excited about, then I think they can come back easily. But there's more to it than just making music. Once you get out of the groove, I think it's probably hard to put everything back in motion in the way it used to be."

He adds: "It's not just about the record. You have to be willing to do all the things it takes to market it such as touring. But if they're up for it, then I think they're in a position where people want to see what they can do. They can do it."

Producer Syience Recalls Jay-Z Meeting, Talks Upcoming Project With Michael Jackson

He's not a household name yet, but up and coming producer Syience is getting calls from the biggest names in the business, including Jay-Z and Michael Jackson.
When Flint, MI producer Syience (born Reggie Perry) arrived in New York two years ago he never imagined he'd soon be making beats for Jay-Z's comeback albumKingdom Come. Fortunately fate joined the young musician with Def Jam singer/songwriter Ne-Yo and the rest is history.
"The first time my managers took me to Sony, they were working on Omarion and they said 'we gotta put him and Ne-Yo together.' People knew our sound together would be something unique," Syience told SOHH.
While working on new material the two wrote "Hollywood," a track initially intended for Ne-Yo.
"I remember Ne-Yo coming to the studio like 'Jay-Z wants to use Hollywood for one of his singles,'" Syience recalled. "My first reaction was 'Jay Z out of retirement!!!' I'm so much a fan, before I could realize that he wanted to use my track I was just excited he was doing another album. Ne-Yo was like 'Did you hear what I said?' I didn't believe it until I actually heard the vocals when I went to track the song out."
After hearing Jay's vocals, Syience made some additional changes to the song, further impressing the Def Jam mogul, who also used the session to dispense some advice.
"Jay came in toward the end of the process like, 'What are you doing?" basically like, 'the song was already a hit, why are y'all letting him make changes?' They played the track and Jay stopped it where it was breaking down like 'Yo, you really are the truth,'" Syience remembered. "Jay talked to me about a lot of things that probably would happen...just the business, the way it comes so fast and the way things can change, and how it can have you pretty much crazy. He spoke as if 'you'll be like that and you'll do this and you'll do that,' like be conscious of it."
Fans of nearly every music genre can look forward to hearing more from Syience via his music production company Stay Fresh. He is currently working with Alicia Keys, Cee-Lo Green, Keyshia Cole, Chrisette Michele, Daniel Mayweather, Lupe Fiasco, Amy Winehouse and Wynter Gordon.
"Hopefully I can be on the Gnarl's Barkley project," Syience said, before revealing a reluctance to go into detail. "I hate speaking on things before they happen. I've been a part of a lot of projects and spoke on them and then at the last minute the label will say 'this ain't coming out until next year. We don't even know if we're releasing this album,' so I just wait until the album is ready to drop."
However, Syience did confirm that a new Janet Jackson album is in the works and he's vying to work with the King of Pop as well.
"I'm actually working on music for him now. I always wanted to be a part of anything he ever did. His situation is, nobody really knows what Michael Jackson is going to do. Even the biggest producers and writers are not sure what's going to happen with that, but we are all sitting back and still creating and trying to get on the project. They asked me to work on the project so we're working on it. We're working on Janet Jackson as well. She's coming back. Pretty much everybody is a potential Syience track getter.

Dazwischen gibt es nichts», sagte will.i.am dem US- Magazin «Billboard».

          Ne-Yo
"I'm currently doing stuff for Michael Jackson, yeah ..." the singer says wide-eyed from his Toronto hotel room. "The way I have to tackle that is I really have to sit down and say, 'I'm just writing a song.' I can't go, 'Okay today is the day that I have to write a hit song for Michael Jackson.' Nothing will come out. I'll hate everything that I write and he won't get any songs because I'll throw them all away before he hears them."

What do Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige and Enrique Iglesias have in common? One man: Ne-Yo.

You might know the multi-platinum R&B superstar for his own ingenious take on soul and flawless vocal croonings, but when he's not busy breaking the hearts of millions as a solo artist, he's crafting today's biggest hits for the most successful of uber-stars. In just one week, his songs had 189.5 million radio listeners, making Ne-Yo one of the most-heard and sought-after songwriters of our time -- and you had no idea. But that's OK with this Las Vegas-raised, Def Jam star: he doesn't want to be a star anyway.

"Anytime I get to work with Rihanna is a pleasure because she's really, really my little sister. We punch each other and make practical jokes and all that stuff," Ne-Yo enthuses of his time spent writing the Barbados beauty's "Unfaithful," "Good Girl Gone Bad" and "Hate That I Love You," among others. "Beyonc is one of the easiest people to work with, not just because she's so nice but because she's so good to work with. Literally, I can give her a song and be like, 'Here you go. I'll be back in 30. Bye.' I come back, and the song is done. I don't have to be there. She does it all herself. It's beautiful to hear something that I put together and to have her put her stamp on it."

While he's enjoyed scripting hits, like Beyonce's 'Irreplaceable,' for music's leading ladies, Ne-Yo admits he's particularly thrilled to be working for the king of pop, Michael Jackson, and taking on the daunting task of resurrecting his once unimaginably massive appeal. The pair has already started exchanging song ideas (Ne-Yo's lips are sealed to secrecy as to any specifics), but the collaboration almost derailed because the young songwriter refused to believe it was actually ***** the first time the music legend called him.

"When Michael Jackson called me, he was like, 'Hi, this is Michael Jackson.' I said, 'This is not Michael Jackson.' He's like, 'Yeah, it's really Michael Jason.' I said, 'C'mon man. Someone is playing with me,'" Ne-Yo laughs. "I almost hung up the phone, but then I realized it was Michael Jackson -- and then I almost dropped the phone."

Ne-Yo plans to help the former pop king reclaim his crown the old-fashioned way -- by writing perfect pop songs, rather than working him into some sort of trend.

"I think when you take someone who is a little older and try to make them young again, that's where you screw up. You're not supposed to be young again," he rationalizes. "You're supposed to make music that is relevant. You're not following a trend. I don't want to go in and have Michael Jackson singing 'Hey shorty.' I'm going to do what Michael Jackson does."

Next time you hear M.J., expect to hear him singing about something torn from a page of Ne-Yo's diary. The beat-maker says all of his songs are inspired by his real life experiences, often involving the young women who make his world go 'round. On his latest release, Because of You, Ne-Yo even thanks all the young ladies he's caused emotional duress for inspiring much of his music.

"I don't know why, but pain makes for the best song lyrics. You ever noticed that? The song about the breakup, the song about crying, those you always feel the most," he relates.

While all his songs are personal, Ne-Yo explains he's never found it odd to have another artist belting out tunes inspired by his heart.

"Normally, I write a song about something, thinking I'm the only one [who understands it], then I'll let the artist hear it, and they'll be like, 'Yeah, I remember that.' And I'm like, 'No, I didn't write that about you. I wrote that about me.' And they go 'Oh, I know because I've experienced that, too,'" he explains. "I always try to make my songs relatable to everyone and, luckily, I'm a regular person, so the things that I've experienced are the things that you've experienced."

Ne-Yo's life and credentials might not seem normal -- neither is the fact he's so sought after that a huge body guard (whose neck looks like a package of hotdogs) has to follow him everywhere -- but he insists he doesn't think about himself in a star context.

"It's still weird for me to sign an autograph for somebody because I've never viewed myself as a star or a celebrity or anything. I'm actually glad I don't," he says. "I think the day I view myself as a celebrity, is the day I may quit because I think that's what makes your head get big. ... The day I tell someone 'Don't you know who I am?' is the day I'm going to punch myself in the face."

His ego might not be huge, but Ne-Yo continues to dream big when it comes to ambition: he still has plenty of goals he's striving hard for.

"I haven't won a Grammy yet. That's definitely something to shoot for," he notes. "Usher sold 10 million records off of one album, I haven't done that yet. That's definitely a goal. I love what I do and I want to do this as long as God will allow me to."

          The world will be listening.

Nein.

SZ: Als Musiker muss man heute also vor allem unternehmerisch denken?

Will.i.am: Korrekt. "Songs About Girls" ist mein Beziehungs-Konzeptalbum.

Will.i.am: Ein Visionär.

Will.i.am: Richtig.

Will.i.am: Yo. Sagt - nichts! Spielt einfach. Was sollte das denn?"

Will.I.Am interview in Los Angeles Radio Station KIIS FM

MJ and Will have done 3 or 4 songs 2 of them are finished

In an interview with KIIS FM last Thursday producer Will.I.Am revealed some more info about the new album, namely that him and Michael have done about 3 or 4 songs together and 2 of them are finished.

"We probably did like 3, 4 songs" Will.I.Am told KIIS FM, when asked if they where finished he replied "Two of them are"

According to speculation in the MJ fan community 2 possible titles for the songs are 'I'm Dreamin' and 'The Future'

Out of the four songs Will.I.Am has wrote two, Michael has wrote one and the both wrote one together.

Will also revealed that the songs are feel good songs and they aren't songs about Michael's life, "They're just feel good joints. Really feel good songs." Will told KIIS FM.

Will also revealed that Michael is doing great, he's in a great place and the vents of the last few years have not taken its toll on him. "When I was with him it was a super-duper place. You know? Flying to Ireland and being there for like a week in this great facility, great studios, great vibe, great atmosphere. It was just awesomeness."

Unfortunatley Will.I.Am did not hint at any release date as to the release of the new songs or indeed the release of a new album, "See I don't know when he's gonna put them out. That's up to him. It's his project. You know?, I'd put them out tomorrow. But I dunno dude. He'd probably be like, kinda angry" Will.I.Am told KIIS.

A transcript of the Will.I.Am interview can be found below:

Ryan Seacrest: It's 9:05am, five minutes after nine o'clock. How about Michael Jackson? Are you working with him?

will.i.am: Yeah, I went to Ireland to work with Mike. That was a great experience.

Ryan: What have you done so far with him?

Will: We probably did like 3, 4 songs.

              Ryan: Are they finished?

              Will: Two of them are.

Ryan: What are they like? When are they coming out? Tell us.

Will: See I don't know when he's gonna put them out. That's up to him. It's his project. You know?

Ryan: But they're done and it's up to him?

Will: I'd put them out tomorrow. But I dunno dude. He'd probably be like, kinda angry.

              Ryan: How's he doing?

              Will: Awesome.

Ryan: How is he to work with?

              Will: The freshest.

              Ryan: Really?

              Will: Tabanackle.

Ryan: Has anything over the last few years, in your mind when you were working with him, taken its toll on him? Or is he in a good place mood right now?

Will: When I was with him it was a super-duper place. You know? Flying to Ireland and being there for like a week in this great facility, great studios, great vibe, great atmosphere. It was just awesomeness.

Ryan: Are the songs about his life?

Will: No, no. They're just feel good joints. Really feel good songs.

Co-host: Did you write them together? Did he write them? Did you write them?

Will: Um, a little bit of both. I wrote two songs, then he wrote one song and then we wrote one song together.

                Interview mit Teddy Riley

Lucy Diamonds: There have been rumors going around the news that you and Will.i.am are both working on the new Michael Jackson album? Any truth to that?

Teddy Riley: Yes, it's true Michael and I are supposed to be working together. I don't know exactly which direction Michael is going in right now, but when the call comes in, I'm there.

Lucy Diamonds: Speaking of Michael Jackson, after he broke records with Quincy Jones on several albums up through Bad¸ you took over the production for Dangerous. At that time in your career, was following Quincy Jones a lot of pressure?

Teddy Riley: It was a lot pressure, I ain't gonna lie about it. I felt really tense going in there working with Michael and to be coming after Quincy who's a genius. He's the Grandfather of production. Actually he called me to do it. He told me "you can do this." He's the one who put me out there to Michael and said, "This is the guy you need to do your record." So then Michael called. At that point, I just went in with a lot of songs knowing he'd at least pick one song but he picked seven.

Michael Jackson is currently working on a new studio album. The new album has been in production since May of 2006 with Jackson having written songs since 2003. The as yet untitled album has been recorded in Dublin, Ireland and Las Vegas by Jackson and co-producers William "will.i.am" Adams of The Black Eyed Peas, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Teddy Riley, Ron "Neff-U" Feemster, and many others.

will.i.am has described the upcoming album as an Off the Wall for today's generation. Some of the work in progress includes up-tempo, dance-floor ready tunes and 'great melodies'. Insiders on the project are describing the tracks as 'perfect pop songs'.

Although the new album was expected to be released in late 2007, will.i.am revealed in a recent interview with the German newspaper "Süddeutsche Zeitung" that he will be returning to the studio with Jackson in November of 2007.

                  Recording

Michael Jackson started recording the album in May of 2006 in Bahrain. In late 2006 he moved to the Grouse Lodge recording studio in Ireland where he met up with will.i.am.

When first starting this project Jackson said in April of 2006: "I am very excited about my new venture and I am enjoying being back in the studio making music".

will.i.am told journalists at the Cannes MidemNet conference in January of 2007: "Michael Jackson is working day and night on this great, great record. I heard and see him in the studio and he is creating a masterpiece. A lot of people in the industry are involved or want to be involved. From producers to marketing people. Before the year is over Michael Jackson is back on top of the charts".

In October of 2006 Access Hollywood travelled to Grouse Lodge, which was described as a classic old Irish estate ouside Dublin; a stone manor built with a state of the art recording studio to conduct an informal interview with Jackson and will.i.am. When presenter Billy Bush questioned Jackson if this was him deciding to get back in to making music, he insisted that he had never stopped. When they discussed the music, Jackson explained that he likes to take sounds and put them under the microscope to manipulate the character of them. Jackson indicated that this music was something completely new and something no one has ever done before. They also discussed the possibility of making this new album a sequel to his 1982 album Thriller.

In January of 2007, Jackson relocated to "The Studio" at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas so that meeting up with producers and musicians for the album would be less strenuous. Since then, despite taking many trips to Japan and London, it is believed that Jackson has recorded over 100 songs for the album. During the recording of Invincible Jackson recorded more than 100 songs and short listed 20-30 songs for the album. will.i.am recently stated in an interview with Times Online, "Having 12 songs on a record? That day is done" and he expressed an interest in having over a hundred songs on his next studio album, Songs About Girls. It is unknown how many songs will appear on Jackson's new album or if he will adopt the same album philosophy as will.i.am.

                  Various proposals and productions

"He hasn't made up his mind about whether a Vegas show is in the cards for him," his rep, Raymone Bain, told us. "He's been in the studio since November working on his music. He's been presented with various proposals. A Vegas show isn't a priority". "He's in Las Vegas now. He's pretty grounded in Vegas. It's very convenient for producers and songwriters to get to him. He's worked there before. He's been recording with producers Rodney Jerkins, will.i.am and Neff-U".

However, Jackson doesn't have a record deal. Says Bain: "He's finalizing distribution arrangements".

                  Collaborations

                  will.i.am

Jackson has enlisted Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am as a music producer for the album. Jackson and will.i.am appeared together in an Access Hollywood interview conducted in October of 2006. At the time of the interview, Jackson and Adams had not completed any music yet and were still experimenting with different sounds and styles. However, a Rolling Stone magazine article published in February of 2007 stated that the pair had drafted eight new songs and physically tracked one song, titled "I'm Dreamin'".

will.i.am told Billboard magazine that he is involved in more than just the musical aspect of Jackson's new album. He is also discussing with Jackson how he can use new technology, particularly social networking websites and downloading outlets to his advantage.

In an August 2007 interview with Times Online, will.i.am was quoted as saying, "[Jackson's] voice is still incredible. It’s not about crazy beats that are going be here today and gone tomorrow, but melodies that will stay for a lifetime."

On the 13th of August 2007, will.i.am told reporters at a Black Eyed Peas press conference in South Korea that another track he recorded with Jackson is titled "The Future".

On the 23rd of August 2007, will.i.am revealed on the Los Angeles radio station KIIS-FM that he has only recorded two tracks with Jackson and that they are "feel good" songs and not songs about Jackson's life, he also stated that they have two more tracks to work on in November.

On the 13th of September 2007, will.i.am told Swedish interviewer that Michael and him have done three songs together, one of which will.i.am is on as a duet/featuring artist. He also said that he hopes for Michaels first single to be released next year. (2008)

                  Other collaborators

In the last four months of 2006, Jackson worked at Grouse Lodge. During that time, he worked with will.i.am (as previously mentioned), Rodney Jerkins (who worked with Jackson on his Invincible album), Neff-U (who has worked with Ne-Yo, Eminem and 50 Cent) and Charles "Big Chuck" Stanton. Big Chuck is the uncle of Neff-U and has been quoted as saying the following about Jackson's upcoming album.

"[Michael is] ready to take over the world. He's got some hot records. Will.I.Am did one, Teddy Riley [did one]. We're giving Michael a lot of edgy street records. He's putting melodies to some hard party records."

R&B hit-maker Ne-Yo is currently working on the Jackson album, and he says that he's well aware of the pitfalls that may come with the job. Ne-Yo said, "I'm not trying to top Thriller. Anybody trying to top something that's already been done is fighting a losing battle". "It was a different industry back then, a different way of thinking and people were easier to impress. Everything in music has been done now, so Michael needs to find his place again".

In a recent interview with music website SOHH, relatively unknown producer Syience talks about working on music for the King Of Pop's latest project.

"I'm actually working on music for him now," he said. "I always wanted to be a part of anything he ever did. Nobody really knows what Michael Jackson is going to do. Even the biggest producers and writers are not sure what's going to happen with that, but we are all sitting back and still creating and trying to get on the project. They asked me to work on the project so we're working on it."

                  Rumored and unconfirmed collaborators

It is rumored that Jackson could also be working with R&B star Akon. However, Akon claims he is "not at liberty" to disclose details on his involvement in the album. Akon has also stated that he would love to work with Michael Jackson. Akon explained that he grew up listening to Michael Jackson's music and ever since he was a boy working with Michael Jackson has been his dream collaboration.

Another R&B artist that Jackson might be working with is Chris Brown. Brown performed a tribute to Jackson at the World Music Awards 2006. At that time he revealed to Billboard magazine that he was in talks with Jackson to participate in the new album.

Producer Sean Garrett has also attached his name to the new Jackson album. E! revealed that Jackson's new album is on his long list of current and future music projects.

                  Album release

will.i.am has said that the album may be released online through social network sites such as MySpace, instead of a traditional store-based CD release. It should be noted that Jackson does not have distribution with a major record label. In September of 2006, will.i.am became the head of marketing of the online music distribution company Musicane. It is unknown if the upcoming album will be available on popular online music sites such as iTunes or Amazon.com.

In November of 2006, Access Hollywood followed Jackson when he was in London for the 2006 World Music Awards. Presenter Billy Bush spoke to fashion designer Roberto Cavalli, who explained that Jackson had contacted him to design his clothes for the World Music Awards and further events.

                  Possible/Rumored tracks

These songs may or may not appear on the final cut of the album.

                    @kalif:

                      Jackson plans his comeback

Singer is talking about a new album and tour

                      September 17, 2007
                      BY BILL ZWECKER Sun-Times Columnist
As stories fly about how troubled entertainers like Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears or Tom Sizemore will stage attempts at career comebacks, I'm hearing another tarnished star is quietly strategizing his return to center stage.
None other than Michael Jackson has been meeting with a series of music industry insiders and promoters regarding a major new album and international concert tour to promote it -- possibly by the end of 2008 or early 2009.

A longtime Jackson associate told this column Friday, "This is something Michael is carefully planning. I think the album is going to be amazing. From what I've heard, it will be as big as 'Thriller' -- and yet will take his music in a new direction to appeal to new, younger fans -- but will still have those Michael touches his traditional fans love."

Apparently, Janet Jackson and some of Michael's brothers possibly will be involved, including doing duets with him on a number of tracks. "Can you imagine what a sensation it would be if Michael and Janet toured together," said the source, teasingly. "That is something that's being discussed

West's focus is Graduation. But he runs a record label and production house as well as tours. He is also making a reality-based sitcom with Larry Charles (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage) and will contribute tracks to Michael Jackson's new album.

“I haven't yet figured out the science of what (Jackson) should do,'' West says.

Akon Confirms He Is Recording with Michael Jackson

Akon has let slip that he's been working with Michael Jackson on the King of Pop's new album, before quickly admitting, "I'm not supposed to be talking about this!"

Rumors have surrounded Jackson's forthcoming album, with some speculating that it would not eventuate, however, Akon discussed his experience with Jackson to MTV News gushing, "He's a genius. Just to be in the same room, I felt everything I wanted to accomplish in life has been achieved. That aura… that's how incredible that aura is. We about to shake the world up, man."

Akon continued, "You know how you be with somebody, and you can't even explain [the feeling]? I used to sit and think, 'How does somebody sell so many records and dominate a whole business genre, to a point [where] nobody can't be a part of that without associating with you?' The way he thinks ... some artists think regional, some think national, I was thinking international. He thinks planets. It's on another level."

Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas has also previously confirmed that he's worked with Jackson on some new material.

No official release date has been announced yet for Jackson's single or album.

                            ***** & Janet On Tour?
                            Freitag, 21.09.2007
